Position Overview
Diverse Agile Solutions (DAS) is seeking a highly skilled Senior IT DevSecOps Engineer to support the development and deployment of a cloud-native application within the AWS GovCloud environment for a federal client.
This role is critical in integrating development, security, and operations (DevSecOps) practices to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient solutions. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in cloud engineering, security compliance, and automation, along with experience navigating the complexities of government cloud environments.
The selected candidate will play a key role in shaping cloud architecture, enforcing security best practices, and enabling efficient, Agile-driven delivery across multiple application environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage secure cloud infrastructure across development, testing, staging, and production environments
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform
- Build and manage CI/CD pipelines with integrated security controls and automated testing
- Establish and enforce DevSecOps best practices throughout the software development lifecycle
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, Splunk)
- Ensure compliance with federal security standards and frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST 800.53)
- Identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities and risks in cloud environments
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability across all environments
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity strategies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality solutions
- Provide technical guidance, training, and knowledge transfer to development and operations teams
- Drive continuous improvement in automation, security, and cloud operations
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Minimum 6+ years of relevant experience
- At least 5+ years in DevOps or cloud engineering roles
- Demonstrated experience building and deploying cloud-native applications
Core Technical Expertise
AWS & Cloud Engineering
- Strong experience with AWS services, particularly in AWS GovCloud environments
- Hands-on experience with:
- Compute, storage, networking, and managed services
- Multi-environment architecture (dev, test, staging, production)
- Understanding of cloud networking and architecture design
DevSecOps & Automation
- Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (Terraform preferred)
- Strong experience building and maintaining:
- CI/CD pipelines (GitLab or similar tools)
- Automated testing and deployment workflows
- Proficiency in scripting languages:
- Python, Bash
Security & Compliance
- Deep understanding of cloud security principles and best practices
- Experience with:
- Identity and Access Management (IAM)
- Secure application deployment
- Familiarity with federal compliance standards, including:
- FedRAMP
- FISMA
- NIST 800.53
Containerization & Orchestration
- Experience with:
- Docker
- Kubernetes (EKS, ECS, Fargate)
Monitoring & Observability
- Experience implementing:
- Logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions
- Tools such as AWS CloudWatch and Splunk
Version Control & Testing
- Proficiency with:
- Git-based version control systems
- Unit testing and automated testing frameworks
Additional Preferred Skills
- Experience with XACTA 360
- Experience supporting federal agencies or government IT environments
- Familiarity with security auditing and compliance documentation processes
Soft Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
